THIS is apropos of the letter ‘Paying tribute to a folk singer’ (Jan 17). The maxim ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ proved to be true regarding the case of the no more hapless folk singer and TV artiste Zeenat.

The credit goes to the correspondent of Dawn who highlighted the plight of the forgotten folk singer of yesteryear.

Later on, the federal ministry of information announced a monthly stipend of Rs10,000 and organised a benefit show at Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad, in her honour.

Raising financial support and giving due reverence is bound to alleviate her grievances.
