Govt urged to provide equal rights to women

LAHORE — As many as 150 children demanded of the govt to ensure equal rights and development opportunities for women and religious minorities and for lasting peace in Pakistan.

They expressed these views during a children conference ‘Future Belongs to You” held at a local hotel on Monday under the aegis of Applied Social Economic Research (ASR) resource centre.

ASR resource centre has been running summer school for the children at the seven districts of central Punjab which ended with the children conference. Speaking on the occasion, Nighat Saeed Khan, Executive Director – ASR Resource Centre said that ASR had been working for women, religious minorities and peace since its existence”.

Three sessions were conducted which were on minorities, women and peace. Students, government official and NGOs representatives also attended the ceremony.

Children presented peace and harmony songs and committed to build strong Pakistan. The conference ended with the plan that each district will organise programs with schools and different groups to share their experiences.
