Frozen funds leave union council in limbo

Karachi:The seized assets of the Union Council (UC) -12, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town by the Sindh Local Government Commission has virtually stopped all uplift projects, creating serious problems for residents said Town Nazim, Dr Muhammad Sultan Shaikh.

Furthermore, he added that the funds were frozen on the grounds that Shaikh had not met with the councilor’s complaints but this was not true as the the minister and the local government took action without waiting for the Gulshan administration to formally resolve the complaints.

Dr Sultan pointed out that the real reason his UC was targeted because he belonged to the Al-Khidmat group and his naib nazim belonged to the Awam Dost group

He demanded of the authorities to conduct an inquiry into the issue and restrain city and town nazim from uncalled for interference into the affairs of union council. He further demanded that frozen funds of his union council might be released at the earliest, while a culture of tolerance, broadmindedness and cooperation be created to serve masses above political and ideological considerations.
