HYDERABAD- A joint meeting of editors, journalists and press photographers held at the press club condemned the “murderous attack” on a senior journalist and the bureau chief of NNI and daily Ummat, Abdul Hafeez Abid, and demanded the arrest of culprits.

The police has picked up four suspects for interrogation. The president of the club, Lala Rehman Samoon, presided over the meeting. The speakers said that the attack was in fact an attack on the journalistic community and on the freedom of the press. The meeting resolved that a delegation of senior journalists will meet the administration officials to demand the arrest of culprits within two days.

The meeting also constituted a committee to coordinate with the investigating team and warned the administration that if no breakthrough was made in the arrest of accused persons, the scope of protest will be enlarged throughout the province.
