FM radio station to be set up at Islamia University

BAHAWALPUR, March 27,2005: An FM radio station will be set up atthe Islamia University Bahawalpur’s mass communication department. This was stated by department chairman Prof Sajjad Piracha while talking to journalists here on Saturday.

He said the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority had issued a licence for 10 years to the university. The radio station, he said, would help educate students on broadcasting.

He said it would be set up within the next few months during which its machinery and equipment would be installed on the Baghdadul Jadid campus. Meanwhile, the IUB’s public relations department claimed that the university had made remarkable progress in the past three years.

In a press release, the department said the HEC had approved the university’s 11 projects while 13 others were under way.
