Faisalabad Editors’ Council formed

FAISALABAD- Faisalabad Editors’ Council (FEC) has been formed with Zia Tanveer Shaukat of Daily Ghareeb as its President.

A meeting of the owners of the local newspapers was held to elect the new office-bearers of the Council. The meeting unanimously picked its office-bearers including Sardar Abid Aleem (Daily Millat) Senior Vice President, Agha Arbab Khawar (Daily Shelter) Vice President, Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani (Daily Paigham) General Secretary, Aneek-ur-Rahman Additional General Secretary, Arshad Majeed Inami (Commercial News) Joint Secretary and Khalid Mahmood (Surat Hal) Finance Secretary.

A four-member executive body was also constituted with Atiq-ur-Rahman (Tijarti Rahbar) as its chairman. The executive body consists of Sheikh Sultan Mahmood (Punjab News), Muhammad Usam (Daily Yarn), Ahmed Sabat (Daily Awam) and Asghar Ali Tabassum (Nia Ujala).

Immediately after the election, a meeting of the FEC was held with its President Kanwar Tanveer Shaukat in the chair. The meeting discussed the present situation and decided to purge local newspaper industry from the clutches of yellow journalism. The meeting also adopted a resolution urging government to avoid issuing declarations of identical name and style.
