Eight more killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Eight more people, including a policeman and religious activists, fell prey to Karachi violence on Wednesday. A wireless operator of the Kalri Police Station was found dead near Lea Market. Police officials said unidentified armed men kidnapped him late on Tuesday and later threw his body away. Police officials claimed the deceased was shot multiple times and had been killed by Lyari gangsters.

Clifton police found the body of a man from Tauheed Commercial Street. According to police, unidentified culprits stabbed the victim and threw his body at a roadside. In another incident, Manghopir police found the body of an unidentified man from Manghopir Road. Police officials said the victim was shot and killed after kidnapping. Another man, Yousuf Bengali, was stabbed to death near his house in Macchar Colony.

Police officials said he was killed over a monetary dispute. Moreover, an employee of a private bank was gunned down in a targeted killing near Nagina Centre. According to police, two armed men shot and killed the victim after an argument.

Another man, identified as Amir, was gunned down. According to initial investigation, the victim was shot and killed, while police claimed to have arrested a suspect while further investigation was underway. The body of the victim was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi. An unidentified young man was gunned down near Cheel Chowk. His body was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy.

Police said motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. Separately, two activists of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat were shot injured in a targeted attack at Bandhani Colony. Police said Shafiq and Zubair were sitting at their shop when armed men targeted and opened fire on them. They were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors termed their condition critical. Another ASWJ worker, injured in a targeted attack late on Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital. The deceased, Waheed, and his brother, Ismail, were injured when two armed men targeted them near Landikotal Chowrangi.
