ECP declares Chawla SA member on women seats

Najma Saeed Chawla of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) has replaced Mrs Farah Naz Isphahani as Member Sindh Assembly on the reserved seats for women. Ms Isphahani has resigned from her seat after being elected as MNA on a seat reserved for women from Sindh.

According to an ECP notification issued on Friday, Mrs Chawla became MPA after PPP candidate Mrs Farah Naz Isphahani, who was declared Member Sindh Assembly on a seat reserved for women on March 06, 2008, resigned from her seat and retained her National Assembly seat.

PPP office-bearers informed that Mrs Isphahani had also filed her nomination papers for a National Assembly seat reserved for women from Sindh and she managed to secure both seats after her party won majority seats.

Mrs Najma Saeed Chawla was the next candidate on PPP priority list and so she became eligible to be selected as Member Sindh Assembly on the reserved seat that fell vacant due to the resignation of its occupant.

It is worth mentioning here that Mrs Chawla is a former member of City Council Karachi belonging to PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel, where she was elected on a seat reserved for women.
