Drug pushers attack journalist

KARACHI- Drug pushers and criminals stormed the residence of a reporter of an Urdu daily, Express, in Azizabad for reporting a news against him.

Family members of the reporter, Tufail Ahmad, informed him about the incident at his office, saying the attackers had also threatened of the dire consequences. Tufail, however, denied reporting of any such story.

He rushed to his residence where he was told that 20 people, led by a notorious drug pusher of the area, who carries out the nefarious activity with his three brothers serving in the police department attacked his residence. They kicked the front door of his house to force entry, used abusive language and pelted stones at the house.

Some neighbours made an emergency call to the police who rushed to the place and the attackers dispersed sounding notes of warning. Tufail tried to communicate with Karachi police officials and district administration but failed to get any security. He continued to receive threatening telephone calls from unknown people who hurled abuses and claimed that no force could protect him from their clutches.

The journalist sounded a note of appeal to Sindh governor and high police officials to take cognizance of the situation.
