Demo against Karo-kari
KARACHI – The United Human Rights Welfare International (UHRWI) has condemned the practice of killing innocent women under the cover of Karo-kari.
Addressing a protest demonstration against karo-kari, the UHRWI leaders Rana Faizul Hasan and Sana Ishaq said it was ironic that some 275 women and 195 men were killed under the name of ‘honour killing’ within seven months saying that under which religious injunction, such killings could be justified.
Condemning the government for sitting idle, they said the government remained unmoved and took no serious legal action against the culprits. They urged the legislators to find out a legal way to solve the issue and to pass necessary legislation in this regard.
