Customs officer kills wife

LAHORE — A Customs officer gunned down his wife, mother of three, in Mozang police precincts in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to police, the accused Rafiq, an officer in custom department, reached his home located at Bahawal Sher Road near Begum Building, Janazgah at about 2:30am and witnessed his wife Sajida Parveen in objectionable condition with someone else.

“The accused has confessed of his crime saying he had reservations on the character of his wife since long,” a senior police officer of the Civil Lines Police Division said. The police officer further said here on the night of incident, the accused again observed his wife in objectionable condition on which he lost his senses. After spraying two bullets from a pistol, Rafiq phoned the police and offered his arrest. Police say the paramour of the woman, however, managed to flee from the crime scene.

Later, the body was removed to the City morgue for autopsy. A murder case 219/11 under section 302 of PPC has been lodged against the accused. Further investigations were underway.
