Criminal assault: women seek protection

NAWABSHAH: Two women of a Hindu family have accused a landlord of criminal assault, and demanded of the authorities concerned to provide them protection and justice.

Talking to journalists in Moula Dad Brohi village near Gupchhani, the women said that originally they were residents of Khadi village near Mithi and later settled in Sindhri.

They said that an influential landlord of Nawabshah brought them to his agricultural land in Ghulam Nabi Zardari, Deh 117, Nusrat area, on a contract for taking care of crop two months ago.

The women said that the landlord, along with his friends, came to the village on Thursday and asked the husband of one of them to sit in his vehicle and locked the husband of the other in a room.

They forcibly brought both of them to their Otaq and tried to criminally assault them, the women claimed. They said that when they resisted, the accused beat them up and criminally assaulted them.

They said that they were poor and had no contacts with any influential people.

They further said that they had informed the local police but no action could be taken and apprehended that they might be killed by the said landlord.

They said that they, along with their families, had come to Khair Mohammad Brohi village where they feel that they were in safe custody of a notable Brohi tribe. However, they still fear threat from the accused.

They demanded of MNA Faryal Talpur to take notice of the assault and direct the police to provide protection to them and arrest the accused.

Meanwhile, the district coordinator of Shah Sachal Sami Welfare Association, Zulfiqar Ali Khaskheli, has said that the social welfare organisation would provide free legal assistance to the affected family.
