Couple shot dead over love marriage
LALAMUSA: A man and his wife were shot dead over their love marriage in Mohallah Sardarpur here on Friday.
Reportedly, Amanat Ali and Saiqa contracted a love marriage after fleeing from their houses some one year ago. When Saiqa’s parents found their daughter missing, they got a kidnapping case registered against Amanat.
Consequently, the Sadar police conducted raids to arrest them. In the meantime, Saiqa approached the Lahore High Court and told the court that she had contracted the marriage with Amanat.
On this, the court directed the police to quash the abduction case. The police followed the court orders and quashed the case. After this, they were shifted to Gujrat.
On Thursday, the couple came to the city from some work when Saiqa’s father Baba LaL met them and pretended that he had forgiven them. He gave an invitation to them to stay at his house, which they accepted.
Baba Lal and his son Zaigham Abbas allegedly gunned down Saiqa and Amanat Ali when they were asleep. The Sadar police registered a case.
