Compaq to open office

KARACHI- Compaq, branded computer producer, will soon open its office in Pakistan in order to create nonstop e-business environments and to augment the role of Internet in daily lives. This was stated by Andy Chan, Managing Director, Compaq Computer South Asia in a Compaq Parade Seminar “Everything to the Internet”, organized by Compaq Computer Asia Limited, at a local hotel.

He however did not say as to when the company will open its office in Pakistan. On bringing investment, he was tight lipped saying local presence in Pakistan is our investment. He said the company intends to deliver professional e-business services and solution expertise.

Edwin Huang, Director, Internet Products and Services, Asia Pacific, said that the Internet adaptation in Asia as compared to other continents is very low owing to poor supporting infrastructure and huge cost of online transaction. He further said there is a need to develop new business modes, website, infrastructure and new marketing strategies in order to stay in the global business which is becoming more competitive with the passage of time. He said real value for business is knowledge and data and we have to gain information. Capturing data and using data will drive new internet economy. Business will grow and the market share will improve gradually.

Rizwan Alam, Country Sales Manager, Pakistan and South Asia said that internet commerce is also augmenting from just $IOO billion this year to an estimated $l.3 trillion by the year 2,003. This increase demands quality e-business infrastructure and information technology resources.
