CII chief lauds removal of flaws in Hudood Ordinance

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Dr Khalid Masood Saturday expressed satisfaction on removal of procedural and definition flaws in Hudood Ordinance. “The Hudood Ordinance was a blend of numerous flaws. Scholars from all school of thoughts were persistently urging authorities to amend the man made laws,” he told PTV.

No law contrary to Quran and Sunnah can be passed in Pakistan. The definition of Zina, Qadaf and their punishments have not been changed in the Women Protection Bill. “We should focus eliminating causes of crimes instead of stressing for punishments,” he said.

Women Protection Bill (WPB) would greatly help in eliminating violence against women. The WPB has suggested an ample procedure for registering FIR before arresting any accused of Zina. “It is quite common in our society that anyone seeing man and women in a room together assume that they have committed Zina,” he added.
