Chief Minister announces Rs3 billion uplift package for Umerkot
KARACHI – Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday announced development package worth Rs3 billion for Umerkot district.According to official statement issued here from CM Secretariat, the CM chaired a special Sindh Cabinet meeting at DCO office of Umerkot, which was attended by the provincial PPP ministers, elected representatives of the party and officials, which reviewed uplift schemes of the district.
On the demand of the locals, he announced development package worth Rs3 billion for Umerkot district, a deserted area of Thar, of which major part is witnessing drought. Besides, CM also announced to give ownership right of land to the locals, which was left by the people who migrated to India after partition and is known as ‘enemy property’.
During meeting, sources said that the elected representatives and party leaders demanded their say in the decision-making. They complained against the ministers and leaders of the party for not taking them onboard on the decisions of development projects.
They also protest against the party leaders for ignoring them in the jobs provided by the government for the eligible persons of the area. The CM assured them that they will be given due share of jobs on merit. The CM said that the reconciliation policy will be continued, as present government will again get triumph in the next elections.
He added that PPP will win next elections on its performance, adding that over 1,00,000 jobs have been given to the people, besides network of development schemes is also in process.
The meeting was attended by among others, Minister Agha Sirja Durani, Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Irrigation Minister Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Agriculture Minister Ali Nawaz Shah, Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, besides PPP MNA Nawab Yousaf Talpur and his son MPA Nawab Taimour Talpur also attended the meeting. The PPP leaders complained of water shortage, while CM assured that government will take measures to provide the irrigation water on priority basis.
