Cable operators observe token strike

KARACHI: The cable operators across the country including Karachi and Islamabad July 25 went on three hours token strike to protest against the imposition of Rs 25 monthly tax. The cable operators strike has been held at the cables were switched off throughout the country for three hours in the evening from 7 to 10 pm.

Pakistan Cables Operators Association has given the strike call against the governments decision of announcing imposition of Rs 25 tax on cable operators in the federal budjet 2006-2007. The association demanded immediate abolition of the levied tax as according to them it negatively affected their business in the country. “If the concerned authorities did not pay heed to our demand then we have to chalk out our future line of action,” the association announced.
