Audience sings to The Stooges’ tunes

LAHORE: True Brew Records hosted a musical evening featuring The Stooges Brass Band from the US, at the True Brew Studio on Sunday.

After a very successful performance in Alhamra on Saturday, music lovers rushed to the True Brew Studio to watch the band perform.

The US Mission in Pakistan brought the band from New Orleans, Louisiana, to play at events and participate in musical exchange programmes in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.

The Stooges’ visit to Pakistan is aimed at strengthening cultural ties and increasing awareness of different American musical genres while also exposing Americans to the wide range of Pakistani musical traditions. Talking to Daily Times, the band members said that they were extremely excited to be in Pakistan and having the opportunity to share their music and learn more about Pakistan and its people firsthand.

The Stooges Brass Band has toured Asia, Europe, and South America. In October 2010, they won the title of ‘Red Bull Street Kings’ and were featured in a recent film on the Documentary Channel about the Red Bull Street Kings competition in New Orleans. Established in 2010, the True Brew Studio started off as a small recording house, however, two years into the business now, the place has been transformed into a proper studio with music and sound equipment, and serves as a venue for routine live performances by many various local and international talents.
