Artists’ group show continues at PNCA

ISLAMABAD – A group show of photography, sculpture and ceramic art entitled “Beyond The Frame” by the 20 artists is on display here at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) till May 17.

The participating artists are the faculty members of National College of Arts (NCA), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) and COMSATS. These artists are Aasim Akhtar, Abbas Shah, Aleem Dad Khan, Aqeel Solangi, Farah Mehmood, Hajra Mumtaz, Hamid Durrani, Imran Hunzai, Jamil Kakar, Jaweria, Kausar Iqbal, Merhbano Khatak, Lubna Khatoon, Nadia Hussain, Nadia Rahat, Rashida Faridi, Rohma Noor-e-Haram, Sana Nizami, Tabassum Shaheen and Zarina Ijaz.

“Beyond The Frame” celebrates the multi-faceted talent of the artists that the show purports to present, says curator of the exhibition, Dr Tabassum Shaheen. The diverse group of artists, young and mid-career alike, from different institutes comprises the faculty members who have been practicing art on a professional level. Having brought new ideas and creative approaches to the show, each artist reflects a unique way of viewing the world around him/her.

The show highlights the ceramics, sculpture, photography and installation art and helps create a diversity of perspectives and interpretations to engage viewers’ interest.

Among the prominent works, Mehrbano Khattak’s work entitled “Sound Effects and “Emotions” are done with paper weave expressing her innovative techniques.

Hajra Mumtaz has displayed her series “In Between Reality and Dreams” with the medium of Gud Rang and wash on wasli while Nadia Ali has presented the works titled “I’ll be watching you” that is based on the technique of graphite on paper.

While the ceramic art of Jaweria “Journey in Time” is an added attraction of the exhibition portraying terracotta pieces.
