‘All involved in torture on journalists to be punished’
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdaus Ashiq Awan on Wednesday, while condemning the tragic incident in Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) building where journalists were beaten up and taken hostage by the bank’s security staff, said that all involved in this barbaric act would be taken to task.
Talking to media, following the two-hour meeting with the journalist community’s leaders, led by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Pervaiz Shaukat, Firdaus said that the attitude of the ZTBL security staff was insulting and two officials, including security officer Col (r) Manzoor and three security guards, have been arrested and an FIR had been registered against them. She said that details about snatched cameras and video tapes would also become part of the FIR and a separate FIR would be registered against the police officials responsible for baton-charge against the media people outside the ZTBL building.
