Abbottabad Commission summons Wajid
ISLAMABAD: The Inquiry Commission on the Abbottabad Operation on Monday summoned Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Wajid Shamsul Hassan, to appear before it in the last week of December.
The commission met under its chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal and held a detailed session with legal experts Wasim Sajjad, Justice (retd) Nasira Iqbal and SM Zafar. Wajid had told the international media that it might be possible that the Pakistani leadership was aware of the May 2 operation in advance.
In a recent press conference, Justice (retd) Javed had said: “He has not seen the statement of the Pakistan’s high commissioner to the UK, but if the commission feels necessary, then he will be asked to appear before the commission”.
Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani, will appear before the inquiry commission on December 14. The commission has also summoned Khwaja Asif of the PML-N and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on December 14. The meeting was attended by members of the commission, including Ashraf Jehangir Qazi and Lt Gen (retd) Nadeem Ahmed.
