Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) flays journalist’s killing

LAHORE- The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has expressed concern over the killing of a Karachi journalist.

In a statement PFUJ president I.H. Raashed said Asadulah of the Kashmir Press International (KPI) was shot dead by some unidentified persons.

He said: “Journalists cover hazardous and dangerous assignments. If no protection is provided to them in discharge of their duties, how can they function?”

Mr. Raashed said the recent incidents of killing had made the life of the people of Karachi and elsewhere insecure and uncertain. If it was the act of sectarian and ethnic groups, it was all the more condemnable.

He urged the government to pay compensation to the family of the deceased journalist. He also appealed to the journalists community to raise funds to help the bereaved family.
