AG seeks to restrain the press
KARACHI: The advocate general, Sindh, on Monday pleaded before the Anti-Terrorism Court-1 for restraining media from publishing political statements of the accused in the Oct 12 plane case.
Notice was issued to the defence for Nov 26 on the application which the prosecution maintains has been made “in the interest and requirement of security.”
Administrative judge Rehmat Hussain Jafri observed that as far as the court was concerned, it had allowed access to journalists for the coverage of the trial.
The AG submitted that the government had no objection to the presence, of the media at the trial but the media should be restrained
