‘IT Tower will create 30,000 jobs’

KARACHI: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said the city government was taking all possible measures to provide job opportunities to women and youths and around 30,000 youths would be facilitated in the IT Tower.

“Initially 2,000 candidates will be trained for the call centres as part of the city government’s plan to control poverty.”

He disclosed this while addressing a two-day Pakistan’s first international ICT4D (information and communication technologies for development) conference, on Friday.

The Saleem Akhter Memorial Foundation, the organiser of the event, has also invited delegates from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and China.

Kamal, in his address said the city government, under the public-private partnership has planned to construct a 47-story IT Tower which will furnish 30,000 jobs.

He added that the 47-story IT Tower will be completed with the estimated cost of $200 million and after its completion, Karachi would stand among the world’s modern IT cities

The chairperson of the foundation Salma Abbasi lauded the efforts of the city government to eliminate unemployment and expanding the field of information technology.
