Special team formed to probe Raja Assad’s murder

RAWALPINDI – City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal Khan has constituted a special team to probe into the murder of senior reporter of The Nation and Waqt TV Raja Assad Hameed.

He was brutally gunned down by unknown assassins some three months ago outside his house in Rawalpindi.
The investigation team would be led by SP CIA Sardar Maqsood Ahmed Khan, which would submit its report to CPO week after issuance of notification.

This decision was taken when a delegation of journalists of the twin cities called on CPO Rao Iqbal here on Tuesday.

The delegation comprised National Press Club (NPC) President Tariq Chaudhry, Vice President Jamil Mirza, Joint Secretary Javed Baloch, Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUP) President Shehryar Khan, Gulzar Khan and Muhammad Usman.

Talking to CPO, the delegation expressed its apprehensions over the way of investigation being made by police team into the Raja Assad Hameed’s murder case.

CPO Rao Iqbal told journalists that new police team would be constituted aimed for exposing the killers of Raja Assad.
