Pemra private members file contempt plea in IHC

ISLAMABAD: Two private members of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), Israr Ahmed Abbasi and Fareeha Iftikhar have filed a contempt of court application in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) contending that acting chairman Pemra Pervez Rathore has been still functioning despite orders of the IHC dated June 09. Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi of the IHC would hear this application today (Friday). Israr Abbasi and Fareeha Iftikhar challenged the appointment of Rathore as acting chairman Pemra and the IHC Justice Qureshi on June 09 had ordered that “status quo shall be maintained” on June 09.
