Arrest warrants for managements of some newspapers issued

LAHORE: Chairman Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees Nasir Hussain Haideri Thursday issued non-bailable and bailable arrest warrants of various newspaper managements and their chief executives for not paying lawful claims/dues to employees under wage board award.

The tribunal on its third day of proceedings in city today took up 69 newspaper employees’ cases regarding non-implementation of Wage Board Award.The petitioners mostly belonging to different national newspapers of city appeared before the tribunal along with their counsels and informed that they are being denied constantly their lawful claims/dues strictly in accordance with wage board award.

After hearing the detailed arguments from either sides, Chairman Nasir Hussain Haideri issued notices in all new cases and non-bailable and bailable arrest warrants in old cases with the directive to Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police to produce them before court after arresting on next date of hearing.

The court held here at federal lodges, Wafaqi Colony, took up a total of 300 cases during three days proceedings.The decision to hold court at various cities is aimed to facilitate litigants and ensure justice to aggrieved persons in line with the policy of the Supreme Court.
