Media and Society Programme

Over the last two decades there has been an increased emphasis on social development issues, such as the environment, health, hygiene, human rights, equality of opportunities for women, population and rural development. Pakistani media has increased coverage on social issues and is playing a significant part in generating public interest and in pushing these problems higher on national agenda.

PPF is working to promote professional links between journalists, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Non-Government Organizations for improving the media coverage of social issues. This in turn would lead to better awareness among the public of the scale and nature of the problem.

As progress on social issues require popular support, it is also important to improve the capability of CSOs and NGOs, to work effectively with the media and highlight social, economic and political issues. The purpose of PPF efforts is to help public and private organizations understand the media and to deal with them professionally.

The main activities for this programme are training workshops, seminars, networking between CSOs, NGOs and journalists to highlight the concerns, views, problems, solutions and achievements through the media.
