KARACHI: A. 10-day television course on constitutional amendment process commenced here on Tuesday. This has been arranged by Women Media Center Pakistan (WMC) at its premises here.
As many as 35 participants from electronic as well as print media are attending. The Executive Director of WMC, Ms. Fauzia Shaheen, said on Tuesday that the course is for radio, television and news-paper female journalists.
The course will cover the basic knowledge about the constitution of Pakistan, its development process, constitutional crisis, constitutional amendment procedure, Indemnity bill and chapter of fundamental rights in the constitution.
Fauzia Shaheen said that the WMC is organizing this course to train women journalists who are willing to learn about reporting on constitution, constitutional amendment related issues for the electronic media, the training they receive will include lighting, camera work, story board, scripting and editing techniques as well.
The participants will experience both the classroom understanding and practical applications, This concept offers students opportunity to learn the techniques of preparing news packages from working professionals in a real work environment.
KARACHI TO HOST REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON MEDICAL JOURNALISM
Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) and WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office have invited abstracts for 5th Regional Conference on Medical Journals, to be held in Karachi from December 2 – 5 this year.
Dr Jamshed Akhtar, Chairman Scientific Committee and Dr. Maqbool H. Jafary Conference President, in a joint statement here Tuesday said theme for the conference is, “Medical Journalism Opportunities and Challenges In Eastern Mediterranean Region”.
Intending participants can submit abstract for oral and poster presentation. A list of topics can be found on the website of the conference by clicking link of scientific program http://www.pame.org.pk/emnij5.
They were, however, advised to make the abstract as informative as possible, including a brief background, the methodology of the study, the results obtained and the conclusions based upon the results.
Maximum word limit for each abstract is 250, excluding title, authors names and contact information.
These must be written in British English.
Last Date for Submission of Abstracts is September 30, 2010.
According to the organizers abstracts submitted by fax or send as hard copy shall not be accepted. Online submission can be made at http:// www.pame.org.pk/emmj5/ bstract.html Acknowledgment of receipt of submissions will be sent to the stated e-mail address, said the organizers adding that notification on acceptance rejection of the abstracts will be e-mailed by October 31, 2010.
