A correspondent working for a private television channel and an Urdu language daily was shot dead in the town of Mianwali in Pakistan’s largest province of the Punjab.
Abdul Razzaq Johara, correspondent of Royal TV and Daily “Sahafat” was shot dead by two drug peddlers, Muhammad Riaz and Muhammad Munir on November 3, 2008 for giving information to the police about their business.
Johara was coming out his house on a motor bike at 9.30 am when Muhammad Munir asked him for lift. After some time Munir asked Hqqqi to stop at a spot where his other accomplice was present. Munir fired six bullets on him as a result he died on the spot.
Journalists of Mianwali staged series of protest demonstrations against the killing of their companion.
Police have arrested accused Munir and his two brothers while his other companion is still underground.
