Couple killed for honour

PESHAWAR, June 07 2006: A 28-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were murdered in an hounor killing in Pajagi area of Peshawar on May 05 night, police sources said. Aziz Khan, deputy superintendent of area police, said that police found two bodies in a biscuit factory in the Faqirabad Police Station precincts, who were later identified as Rahat Shah (28), the factory’s watchman, and Benazir (16). Shah was resident of Harichand, Charsadda district, while Benazir was an Afghan refugee.

Police sources said the couple had received fourteen bullets and had died on the spot. Saranay 42, father of Benazir, has admitted to having killed the couple and he was now in police custody. Saranay told his family members about the killings on May 06 morning, claiming that he had suspected his daughter of having an affair with Rahat. He said that on May 05 he found his daughter missing from her home and went to the nearby factory, where he found her talking to Rahat. He said that he got hold of Rahat’s gun and then entered the adjacent room and killed Rahat and his daughter.
