Zardari concerned at ‘Gullu Butt mentality’ on TV screens

Pakistan Press Foundation

Former President Asif Zardari has said that enemies are active on two borders of the country and this is the time to fight for country, “not for chairs”. He was addressing the participants of a reception organised by PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo. According to him, his party will not launch a mass movement to remove any government. He said the political parties would have to show patience.

He said foreign investors do not invest in Pakistan on the basis of speeches. Instead, he said, the foreign investors demand policies that are suitable to their investment. The PPP will reject a finance minister from among the members of business community, he added.

Zardari said there were many ‘Gullu Butts’ of media during his rule and still a ‘Gullu Butt mentality’ is very much active on TV channels.

He said a ‘movie’ based on similar script was shown to the people of Pakistan during his rule. He said he, however, preferred to restore the constitution. He said he has set up a fund for those who embrace martyrdom on borders and his sister Faryal Talpur and PPP Punjab President Wattoo would operate it jointly.
