World TV Awards for Documentary Producers

DOCUMENTARY PRODUCERS ELIGIBLE FOR WORLD TELEVISION AWARD

The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) is accepting entries for its Second World TV Award, which will recognize the best television documentaries that contribute to conflict resolution.

The contest is open to documentary producers and freelancers working for broadcasters in Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Africa and North America.

The winner and his or her broadcasting organization will receive US$3,500 each, airfare and accommodations to attend the 4th AIBD General Conference in Brunei, and an AIBD trophy and certificate.

The five best submissions also will be screened at the Asia Media Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from May 9 to 11, 2005.

Organizers will accept entries from all producers, regardless of the nature, size and shape of their organizations.

Each producer can submit up to two TV programs that increase understanding and awareness by offering a clear and broad picture of the conflict.

Entries should also reflect the responsibility of the media in promoting conflict resolution and understanding.

The programs – 15 to 60 minutes in length on VHS or DVD in English or with English subtitles- should reach the AIBD secretariat no later than April 5, 2005. Entries should be sent to AIBD, 2nd Floor, Bangunan, IPTAR, Kompleks Angkasapuri, 50614 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Web site is http://www.aibd.org.my

There is no registration fee for producers from AIBD affiliates and member countries, the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA). For producers from other countries, the fee is US$50.
