Workshop on basic web authority for libraries

KARACHI- A two-day work-shop on “Basic Web Authority for Libraries” commences at the Brain Tech Institute of Information Technology at Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

This was announced by an official of the Sustainable Development Networking programme (SDNP) of the World Conservation Union (IUCN).

The SDNP believes that there should be an in-house capacity in this sector to set up their websites and frequently update the information and knowledge content therein.

For this purpose, SDNP Pakistan is holding a two-day workshop on basic web authority for libraries to help bring about, capacity development in the effective use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

It was stated that this initiative would facilitate librarians to get information about their libraries/collections online and correspondingly assist users to access the pool of knowledge provided by libraries, universities and research centres via Internet.

Representatives from a number of libraries and resource centres will take part. They include those from Department of Library and Information Science, Karachi University, Dr. Homeopathic, Library, Defence Central Library, Provincial Library of Sindh, Liaquat Hall Library, NGO Resource Centre, American Information Resource Centre, Applied Economics and Research Centre, Goethe Institute, The British Council, Institute of Chartered of Pakistan, Aurat Foundation, Ziauddin Medical University and Aga Khan University Resource Centre.
