Workshop for female journalists held

LARKANA- A two-day workshop was held to train female journalists of rural areas. The workshop was organized by Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) under its Journalists’ Skills Development Programme in collaboration with The Freedom Forum Hong Kong.

It was conducted by Secretary General PPF Owais Aslam Ali, Director The Freedom Forum Hong Kong Arnold Zeitlin, Chief Editor Pakistan Press International (PPI) Fazal Qureshi, Senior Sub Editor Akhbar-e-Khwateen Humera Athar, Director Research Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Farzana Shahnaz, PPI reporter S lqbal Babu.

Deputy Commissioner Larkana Muhammad Asif Khan, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said in his address that with the participation of women, the men-dominated press would undergo a pleasant change. He said journalists are an honourable part of the society. “They are crusaders in real sense as they face the wrath of feudal lords and other influentials,” he added.

Owais Aslam Ali, Fazal Qureshi and other speakers said it was unfortunate that women from rural areas were not joining journalism.
