Woman’s body exhumed from her house

KARACHI – The body of a woman, who was killed by her husband’s elder brother on suspicion of illicit relationship, was exhumed on May 10.

The 17-year-old victim, Hafia, was married to Zaid Ali six months ago. The couple was living in Saudabad with Zaid’s brother, Abid Ali, who admitted to have stabbed the woman to death before a judicial magistrate.

The alleged killer told Judicial Magistrate, East, Javed Iqbal, that he had killed Hafia over a month ago when he found a man with her in the house. Abid Ali, a mason, said that he could not identify the man as he had fled the scene on his arrival. He stabbed Hafia to death out of rage and buried her in the kitchen.

Her husband, Zaid Ali, was at work in the vicinity when the incident occurred. Abid said that when he informed Zaid about the incident, he asked him to the deal the matter himself. Abid said that he went to his hometown in Bahawalpur and informed the victim’s father, Abdul Aziz, that Hafia had eloped with someone.

He told police that he had brought Abdul Aziz to Karachi for lodging a report regarding his missing daughter. Later, he told the police and the magistrate that he could not sleep since the murder, as he continuously dreamt of the victim who kept on asking him to take her body out from the kitchen.

The body was exhumed in the presence of a team of medico- legal officers under the supervision of the magistrate on May 10. Police said that her body was being shifted to her hometown.
