Woman, mother killed by ‘lover’ or ‘would-be rapist’

KARACHI: Bullet-riddled bodies of a divorced woman and her mother were recovered from their house in Qaimkhani Colony, the Mochko police said on Saturday. The deceased women were identified as 27-year-old Uzma and her 55-year-old mother Raeesa.

According to Raeesa’s handicapped husband Ahmed Khan, Khush Dil Khan Niazi attempted to rape Uzma and when she resisted, he gunned her down as well as Raeesa who was trying to save her.

However, Station House Officer Rao Farman said Niazi was financially supporting Khan’s family and also had an illicit relationship with Uzma.

Niazi wanted to marry Uzma, but she kept rejecting his proposal; and it was learnt that she had an illicit relationship with someone else as well, which became the cause of her murder, Farman added.

Farman also said Uzma was a divorcee and she had a seven-year-old daughter with her former husband Saeed. The bodies of Uzma and her mother were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi, and FIR No 754/10 was registered against Niazi.
