Woman councillor beaten in Daska

DASKA: Five men attacked a woman member of the Sialkot District Council and allegedly tortured her and cut her braid as ‘punishment’ for refusing to engage in “illicit relations” with one of them in Bambaanwala village, Daska tehsil on Friday.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered in the case, Abdul Manaan, Abdul Rehman, Irfan, Aamir and Sardar forced their way into Bushra Rafiq’s home, dragged her out in the courtyard and started beating her. Bushra’s mother was also beaten when she tried to save her daughter. The accused cut Bushra’s hair before fleeing.

Both women are now being treated at Daska Tehsil Headquarters Civil Hospital, where their condition is stated to be out of danger.
