Woman appeals for protection

NAWABSHAH: A woman has appealed for protection from her husband’s relative.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Ms Hoor, wife of Rahib Khan Jamali, said that on Oct 2, her brothers-in-law Mir Khan Jamali, Ali Hyder, Ghulam Hyder and their accomplices barged into her house in the village of Juma Khan Jamali near Sakrand.

Flanked by her daughter Ms Rehana, she said the accused started aerial firing and later opened straight fire on them, but they somehow saved themselves.

In response to an appeal for mercy, the accused tried to assault Rehana. When she raised a hue and cry, they fled threatening to keep their mouth shut.

She said that her husband had gone into hiding from the same day and when she approached Khadar and Sakrand police, they demanded bribe. She also went to the District Police officer, but no justice was provided.

She said that her husband had 11 acres of agricultural land and his brothers and cousins wanted to occupy it by force.

She said that she was old and could not do anything to save her family.

She appealed to the high-ups in judiciary and police to provide protection to the family and arrest the culprits involved in their harassment.
