Websites of 32 ministries go off line
ISLAMABAD: Pakistans main online portal (www.pakistan.gov.pk) and 32 important federal ministries websites experienced a complete breakdown from online global community for more than five hours on Friday.
A top federal government official told Dawn: “The main portal was down for several hours which had clearly indicated a weak ‘information security’ level of Pakistan.”
“It was not a Dos attack instead a service initialisation error of an application of the main server,” he said. However, the blackout raises a question mark over the ‘information security’ level of Pakistan.
The official said: “The server of several federal ministries’ websites is being hosted by the National Telecommunication Corporation. However, these servers are managed remotely by the Electronic Government Directorate.”
