Wage Board chief asks Apnec to submit demands

KARACHI- The Chairman of Seventh Wage Board for Newspaper Workers, Justice Raja Afrasiab Khan, asked All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (Apnec) to submit memorandum of demands so that it could be forwarded to the representatives of newspaper owners. The Board concluded its two-day meeting at Qasr-e-Naz. The newspaper owners continued its boycott.

The Board chairman assured employees representatives that he would urge the employers to attend the next meeting of the board on April 12 and 13 in Islamabad. He reiterated that justice would be done to both the parties. He said that interest of the newspaper employers would be protected during the proceedings so as a consensus award could be announced. He informed the meeting that he would also meet the concerned officials of the Ministry of Information and Media Development as well as the Ministry of Labour in order to end the crisis.

Apnec Chairman Abdul Hameed Chhapra, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President IH Rashed, Apnec Secretary General Pervaiz Shaukat and Balochistan Union of Journalists President Majid Fauz – all members of the Board – represented the employees at the meeting while Salahuddin Mughal, Secretary, Sindh Workers Welfare Board, coordinated.
