Violence against women disappoints NGOs

Aurat Foundation, War Against Rape , HRCP, Sindhiani Tahreek, SPARK activists and women MPAs attended the rally.
The procession then proceeded towards the Governor House where they staged sit-in on the outside of the main gate. The protesters demanded to meet to the Governor in order to resolve the issues. It was told that Governor could not meet the protesters but the officials said that three secretaries would meet to the protesters whereas protesters refused to meet with the secretaries.
While addressing to the sit-in before Governor house, Anis Haroon, Regional Director of Aurat Foundation said that recently three women was subjected to rape in different parts of Sindh, but authorities didn’t take notice of it. The victims are waiting for justice, she added.
She further said that recently Govt passed women protection bill, but the events of violence against women has been accelerated, Govt authorities merely doing lip service. The Govt spreading propaganda of enlightened moderation, but women are insecure, she added. Former justice(R)Majida Rizvi addressing to the rally said, the Govt have failed to protect the women. She claimed that recently passed bill regarding the protection of women contained many flaws.
MPAs (PPP-P) Sassui Palijo, Dr Mahreen Bhutto, Akhtar Balouch of SPARK and others addressed the rally.
While the protesters chanted slogans against the rape of Nasima Luhana of Obovro (Ghotki), Shazadi Nagore from Noshahroferoze and Kainat soomro from Mehar.
