Veteran Journalist Syed Iqbal Hussain Passes Away
Iqbal Hussain, a senior journalist and Associate Editor of the business magazine Economic Outlook, which is published by the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) and Pakistan Press International (PPI), passed away on March 30 after a period of illness. He was also the husband of Sheherbano, the Editor of Supplements at The News.
Hussain had been ill for a period of time and was admitted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases since early February.
Hussain had an extensive background in the financial sector, working as a senior Investment Officer at the Investment Corporation of Pakistan before transitioning to journalism 18 years ago at PPI. He possessed expertise in bilingual translation among other skills in his field.
His funeral prayer was held at Jamia Masjid Noor in North Karachi. A large number of mourners attended, including colleagues from the journalist community. Fellow journalists expressed their grief and called his death a significant loss to the field.
Condolences were offered by the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), the Jang Employees Union, the All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (APNEC), and the Karachi Press Club (KPC).
Syed Iqbal Hussain leaves behind his wife, son, and daughter.
