Veteran Journalist Chaudhry Irshad Gonadal Laid to Rest in Sukkur
Veteran journalist Chaudhry Muhammad Irshad Hussain Gondal, who served as a correspondent for Jang and Geo News, passed away after a prolonged illness on September 17. He had been battling multiple health issues for the past several months, with his condition deteriorating in the last three months. Gondal breathed his last at a private hospital in Karachi, leaving behind two sons and a legacy of dedicated journalism.
His funeral prayers were held at Allah Wali Masjid, near his residence on September 18. Many people attended, including family members, fellow journalists, civil society representatives, and political leaders. He was buried in Naogoth graveyard near Dakk Road, Sukkur.
Several prominent figures, including Provincial Minister for Energy Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Mayor of Sukkur Barrister Arslan Sheikh, SSP Sukkur Amjad Ahmed Shaikh, and senior politician Advocate Sayed Shafqat Ali Shah, offered their condolences to Gonadal’s family. They praised his lifelong commitment to journalism and his significant contributions to the media industry.
The Sukkur Union of Journalists also expressed grief over his passing. It announced a three-day mourning period in his memory, acknowledging his role in promoting journalistic values in the region.
