Verification by Nadra must for SIMs’ sale
KARACHI, Jan 27: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has introduced a new system for the sale and activation of mobile phone connections which will be implemented from Feb 1.
Now, SIMS cannot be sold or issued without getting the data about the buyer/user verified by the National Data Registration Authority.
PTA Zonal Director Abdul Batin has issued strict directives to all mobile service providers and operators to provide necessary facilities to their customers for early activation of SIMs and without any difficulty, says a PTA statement issued on Monday.
The director has issued strict instructions that no mobile operator will sell a pre-activated SIM after Jan 31. Besides, SIMs could not be activated without confirmation of Nadra. Mobile phone users/customers have also been advised to confirm if their SIMs were registered in their name or not. According to the telecommunication authority, all SIMs will be blocked if customer data is not verified by Nadra.
