Vendor shot dead by in-laws

The Nishtar Colony DSP told Dawn that Abdul Ghafoor, 24, a resident of Arifwala, had been living along with his wife and a year-old son in Mubarik Town.He claimed Ghafoor had contracted a love marriage with his cousin, Khadija, some four years ago which annoyed Khadija’s brothers Ghulam Fareed, Ghulam Rasool and Yaseen.Following threats by his brothers-in-law, Ghafoor settled in Lahore. On Tuesday, when he was selling vegetables, the three brothers came there and shot him dead.The police removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy, and registered a case against the accused.
A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in an empty plot in Asif Town, Nishtar Colony.Police said the woman, in her thirties, seemed to be a mendicant and some people had subjected her to a severe torture before killing her.The police remove the body to the city mortuary.Some unidentified swindlers intoxicated to death a young man and deprived him of cash and valuables in the Gawalmandi area on Tuesday.
Police could not identify the person because his wallet was missing, and at the time of incident he was sitting in the waiting room of Mayo Hospital.FIRE: A fire broke out in a house under mysterious circumstances in Garhi Shahu on Tuesday.Reports said the fire erupted in the house of Bholi in Almumtaz Street which was empty at the time of incident.
