US envoy hails Aman Ki Asha
Karachi: US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson has hailed the “Aman Ki Asha” (Hope for peace) Programme jointly undertaken by Pakistan’s Jang group of Publications and the Times of India, saying that it augured well for peace.
Speaking at a reception in town, Patterson said that the US fully supported Pakistan’s framework for democracy and highlighted the importance of the local bodies system. She said that the local government system offered solutions to people’s problems at their doorsteps.
She further said that various programmes to raise the education, science, and technology standards would be jointly undertaken by the US and Pakistan.
She said president Obama had directed the administration to initiate steps to consolidate Pak-US ties.
Obama, the ambassador said, was dedicated to the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and acknowledged that enough had not been done by the US in this realm in the past.
