UoE move to implement women protection law

LAHORE: University of Education Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Munawwar Sultana Mirza has constituted a committee to implement the women protection act.

The committee comprises UoE Bank Road Campus Principal Farhat Saleem, Lower Mall Campus Principal Tassadaq Husain Khokhar, treasurer Muhammad Arif and principals, directors and senior members of other campuses.

Chairing a meeting called to implement the bill, the vice-chancellor said the committee would be required to motivate female staff and develop self-confidence as well as sense of protection among them besides resolving women’s problems, which they face during duty.

Prof Mirza said Pakistanis might not stand among progressed nations until and unless a protective working environment was provided to women. She said women had played an effective role in Pakistan Movement, therefore it was understood that an educated and sensible woman could bring up new generation in a better way.

Registrar Bashir Ahmad Chaudhry said women constituted an active part of a state and none of the nations could progress without giving respect to them.

RESULTS: The University of Education on Tuesday declared the results of MSc Chemistry B.Ed, part-I (session 2007-09), BBA (Honours), part-II (2006-10), MA Urdu B.Ed part-I (2007-09) and PhD Education annual spring (session 2009-10).
