UNESCO assistance to Punjab University
LAHORE- Unesco will provide assistance in setting up community Multimedia Centre including Community Radio in the Punjab University’s Mass Communication Department.
This was decided in a meeting of United Nations Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO’s Regional Chief Jayaweera with the Vice Chancellor Punjab University Lf Gen (R) Arshad Mahmood in his office here Tuesday. Chairman Mass Communication Dr. Shafiq Jallandhry and Incharge B.A (hons.) program in Journalism Dr. Mugheesuddin Sheikh were also present on the occasion.
Jayaweera said that the UNESCO would provide necessary equipment for radio production and transmission and will arrange training for operating the equipment. “It will be the first university radio station in South Asia,” he said. Vice Chancellor Arshad Mahmood said that the community multimedia would help extend the communication technology and would meet the requirements of education and communication through mass media.
