UC nazim, naib nazim get bail
PESHAWAR, Oct 18: A local court on Tuesday granted bail to a union council nazim, naib nazim and secretary in a case about preparing fake resignations of three councillors to counter a no-trust motion. Judicial Magistrate Tilla Muhammad Khan said that the three accused should be released on furnishing two sureties of Rs100,000 each. Nazim Union Council Landi Arbab Asifullah Qasmi, Naib Nazim Ashfaq Khan and Secretary Abdur Rasheed were arrested on October 12 after their pre-arrest bail applications were dismissed by a sessions court.
The FIR against them was registered in Sep last on the directions of the additional district and sessions judge. The court, on Sep 8, had accepted an application of councillors Umer Khitab, Zahida Parveen and Farzana Shah and directed local police to register an FIR against the three accused. The councillors had moved a no-confidence motion against the nazim. They claimed that to frustrate that move the nazim, naib nazim and secretary of the council prepared their fake resignations. The FIR was registered under section 419, 420 and 468 of Pakistan Penal Code.
